Enable Personal Hotspot On IPhone And IPad EXCLUSIVE

If you own two iOS devices, let's say an iPhone and an iPad, both running with iOS 4.3 or higher, you can use the personal hotspot feature of the iPhone to build a fast Wi-Fi connection between both devices to transfer your photos and videos.

Enable Personal Hotspot on iPhone and iPad

Apple makes it extremely easy to set up a personal hotspot using any cellular-enabled iOS device, such as an iPhone or an iPad with an active cellular plan. You'll just need a few seconds and your iOS device of choice to get started.

Joining a wireless hotspot is easy, too. If you are signed into the secondary device with your Apple ID, it may detect it as a personal hotspot and prompt you to join it automatically. If you don't own the device, or it does not automatically prompt you to join the network, you can follow the steps outlined below.

You can also connect to a personal hotspot with your Mac. Again, suppose you are signed in to your Mac with the same Apple ID as the iPhone. In that case, your Mac may prompt you to join your personal hotspot automatically should your regular internet connection not be available. If it doesn't prompt you, or you don't own the device, follow the steps below.

My intention was, is there a workaround to identify personal hotspot state programmatically since there is not API for that, that is why I continued the question regarding the ip address that starts with "172.10.20".Do you have a suggestion on how this ability can be achieved (Identify personal hotspot active or not) ?Another direction, I seen a lot abot Reachability library that can monitor the network reachabilty

IMPORTANT: if you are not eligible, you should NOT enable data traffic and/or data roaming on your device in order not to incur in costs. Should this happen, any costs will be charged to you personally.

Block personal Hotspot: Yes turns off the personal hotspot on devices with every device sync. This setting might not be compatible with some carriers. When set to Not configured (default), Intune doesn't change or update this setting. By default, the OS might keep the personal hotspot configuration as the default set by users.

This setting is treated as a remote device action. So, this setting isn't shown in the management profile on devices. Every time the personal hotspot status changes on the device, Personal Hotspot is blocked by the Intune service. In Intune, if the reporting status shows a success, then know that it's working, even though the setting isn't shown in the management profile on the device.

Block modification of personal hotspot: Yes prevents changing the personal hotspot setting. When set to Not configured (default), Intune doesn't change or update this setting. By default, the OS might allow users to enable or disable their personal hotspot.

Personal Hotspot provides data-tethering functionality from a cellular-enabled iOS device, allowing you to share its data connection to another device via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or USB. It's a great way to work mobile with a laptop and not have to worry about finding a Wi-Fi hotspot to work from.

My personal hotspot did not accept connections anymore. I recently had switched off iMessage in settings to allow for SMS (texting). Suggested tricks for hotspot did not work. When I switched iMessage back on the hotspot worked again. Please explain!

Connecting to your iPhone or iPad's Personal Hotspot carries a process similar to how you connect with your home WiFi router / access point. You turn on the WiFi radio of the device which you want to use online, do a search for the wireless hotspot, enter the password, and connect. And speaking of passwords, one should have a key that is truly unique and not so easy to guess, ensuring that things are top notch in terms of security. In today's guide, we will show you how you can change / personalize your Personal Hotspot's password to your liking in a few easy steps.

There are 2 popular methods for tethering iPad to iPhone. The most effective, stable and highly preferred is through an iPhone's Personal Hotspot/Wi-Fi. This is a feature that lets your iPhone function like a Wi-Fi hotspot, and it can then share its cellular network connection with any other devices that use Wi-Fi, such as iPad, Mac, PC and other iPhones. Most carriers support the personal hotspot/Wi-Fi option as long as you have subscribed to a compatible data plan. An alternative method to iPhone's Personal Hotspot/Wi-Fi is iPhone's Personal Hotspot/Bluetooth.

When your iPad is connected to iPhone's personal hotspot, a blue bar will appear at the top of your iPhone's screen. If you would like to disconnect the two devices, simply toggle the "Personal Hotspot" Off.

Step 2. Turn on Bluetooth on your iPad and iPhone devices by tapping on Settings> General> Bluetooth. If the iOS devices prompt you to turn on Bluetooth so as to enable hotspot sharing, you should allow it.

For AirDrop to work, you must switch off personal hotspot on both devices. Here is how to do that on iPhone and cellular iPad: Open Settings app > Personal Hotspot > turn off the switch for Allow Others to Join.
